I have looked at other reviews and to be honest there aren't any serious editing errors that I can point to or remember so they really must have been pretty minor. This is the first book I ever read by the author when I bought the book back in May and I didn't realize until now that I never wrote a review for it so I thought I would correct that issue. I first bought the paperback in April of 2017 and liked the book so well that I bought the ebook format in May. I tend to do that with books I like well enough to re-read again as after a few reads the physical book starts to wear out and that doesn't happen with ebooks.

I guess it is very true that you can't please everyone as I found the level of detail included in the story helped to show or bolster certain things. There were several comments on how different the food was in comparison to what Cassandra and Victoria were used to, but I didn't find that it detracted from the story at all. Sometimes the best was to show you care for/love someone to make sure they eat enough, are getting enough sleep, that they are eating healthy, etc. So I took those details in the book in that vein. Don't tell me William cares about her, SHOW me, let me see it in how he gets upset if he can see she isn't eating because something is bothering her, etc. I didn't find a lot of conversation regarding their clothes other than when we hear her thinking about how as he puts on his uniform she can sense the transformation in him from the man to the admiral. As far as her clothes go that information doesn't really start until after they are back on Carina and we get descriptions of the different clothes she wears for different functions. I actually felt like that helped me picture things better, but I guess everyone is different on the level of detail that they like in a story.

I truly found myself sucked into this story and had a hard time putting it down when I needed to get to bed so I could go to work the next day. There were actually a couple of scenes when she was dreaming that I caught details on the second read through that I missed on the first. For some reason the first time my brain missed when Sabah was telling her that she was the queen and didn't need to give up William that it was related the the birthmark. I will leave it at that so as not to spoil the story for others. I have read this book 4 times now and I have enjoyed it every time.

I would have to agree that there are a lot of stories that the sex seems to be a filler that you want to put x # of scenes in per book or per chapter or whatever, but I didn't feel that this story did that. In comparison to a lot of other stories I have read by authors such as Maya Banks, Lauren Dane, Lora Leigh, Shelley Laurenston, and Kresley Cole this actually had relatively few sex scenes and I never felt that they were put in there just to be there, or that they detracted (or distracted) from the story line. I loved the final confrontation with the "bad guy" at the Challenge was very well written and portrayed. It's one of my favorite scenes in the book. This was an excellent read that I have read more than once and I'm sure I will read again. This is one author that will go on my auto buy/pre-order list!

Cassandra Challenge Challenge Series Book 1 edition by MK Eidem Romance eBooks Reviews

I like the story. The characters are decent for a cheesy sci fi romance (I'm not knocking it, it's my favorite genre). But it's just way too descriptive. I'm about half way through and don't plan on finishing. It's just not engaging enough to be worth it. I really don't care what the characters eat for every meal of every day, or when they took a shower, or every time they changed clothes, or how they opened the door. If they went from one room to another I can safely assume that a door was opened. I really don't need to be told. If it doesn't drive the story or make the character more robust, it's just filler.

The hero is also obsessed with what and how much the heroine eats. It's brought up every time there is a meal scene, and there is a scene for every. freaking. meal. It feels creepy and controlling.

I want to reiterate that the story is really pretty decent. I want to finish the story and I'm curious about the character that stars in the next book. This would be a great quick read, it just has the page count of an epic.
I loved the story. It was a bit predictable but I really enjoyed it.

Now the criticism. The spelling, grammar and punctuation were truly appalling. Whoever edited this prior to publishing should be hung, drawn and quartered! Normally you'll get one, maybe two mistakes per book. It's to be expected. This book is riddled with them. I had to keep going back over certain sentences because the punctuation was either missing or incorrect and I interpreted it wrongly in my head! It requires a complete re-edit to fix all the mistakes as they are on every page.

It normally wouldn't have bugged me. By the last few chapters however, I was ready to skip straight to the end just to escape the errors.

I read the book in about 2 hours and loved the story. But, please, please, fix the mistakes!
I liked the story. It was a good, interesting plot. I liked that it was long, so often we get 200 page stories that feel rushed, I can say that is not the case with this one, it might actually be a little too long. The characters are interesting and I will be reading the next book just to see where the story goes for the supporting characters.

Now for the bad. I read the previous reviews and saw a lot of people had problems with the editing. Yes there are quite a few grammar mistakes, and awkwardly put sentences and ideas, but it didn't really affect my reading flow so it was not as big a problem for me. My big problem was with the story itself. Things happen to the main character, something that is pretty terrible and she just kind of shrugs everything off and adapts to everything without much problem.
Her relationship has no buildup. Basically it was insta-love, and she trusts him implicitly every step of the way even though she doesn't really know him.
Also a couple of things got to be pretty repetitive and not interesting at all like the dinner scenes and the sex. Honestly after the first couple of encounters I just started to skip the sex scenes all together. It was very repetitive and these people just go at it like rabbits, which was not necessary for the story. I rather have a few well written encounters versus once every chapter that just repeats the previous one. I mean it felt like the author thought, "that's enough plot for this chapter, let's put in the sex" and repeat same formula for a lot more chapters.

Regardless of all of this we get quite a few action packed moments sprinkled throughout the book and the ending is really exciting. So I recommend you read it, just be warned!
